FAQs and Reviews
Chances are you don't know me at all at this point, and even if you do, not as an author of suspense thrillers! So, I'm hoping this section will tell you a little more.
FAQs
Q: What kind of writing style do you have?
A: In terms of writing style, my beta readers have suggested it should appeal to people who like recognised authors including:
- David Baldacci
- Mick Herron
- Michael Connelly
- Linwood Barclay
- Barry Eisler
Q: In your own life, what influences and inspires you to write?
A: The main thing that has been a driver for me is the desire to create. I also enjoy the feeling that comes from reading the likes of Frederick Forsyth, or watching films such as James Bond or the TV series Spooks – the feeling that our security services, and by extension our nation, can successfully and often brilliantly rise to a challenge.
Q: Which book or author has had the biggest impact on you, and why?
A: The authors who have had the biggest impact on me personally would be Dick Francis and Lee Child. I wouldn’t say I write like either of them, but their ability to draw you in and make you engage with their characters and storylines is, for me at least, undeniable.
Q: What were your first experiences with writing?
A: Having never tried my hand at writing in this way before, the thing I found the strangest, yet somehow natural experience, was how it felt like the characters were unfolding their story to me. I started with a sketch of a plot, and some scenes I thought would be evocative to write about. The rest came as I journeyed with the characters through their narrative.
Q: What did you find most helpful when writing your book?
A: Generous and ongoing supplies of tea, coffee and cake while at the computer 😀
Q: What writing advice would you offer to your younger self?
A: Get started as soon as you can. See if writing is within you, because if it is, you want as much time to devote to it as you can. The stories will out…
